Production Supervisor – 3rd Shift

Polymer Resources is seeking an experienced candidate for a Production Supervisor position based at our Farmington, CT facility.

At Polymer Resources, we compound Engineering Thermoplastic materials that are used in both Injection Molding and Profile Extrusion applications serving Medical, Automotive, Consumer, and Industrial markets. We specialize in producing Custom Colored products, and in providing materials with specific property profiles that meet needs of our customers. We are a service company that provides specialty plastics; and as a result, we have on time delivery rates greater than 99% with low returns and projected double-digit growth over the next three years.

Summary:

The Production Supervisor is part of the production team at Polymer Resources and will report to the Senior Supervisor. In this role the incumbent must ensure that the objective of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service are achieved.

Essential Duties:

  • Must have good leadership skills, must interact well with others, ability to work with the pressure of deadlines and accommodate a flexible workload.
  • Must know how to operate extrusion lines (single screw and twin screw) and the line sub systems
    • Pumps, blowers, pelletizers, temperature controllers etc.
  • Responsible for the safe operations of personnel and equipment
  • Responsible for the quality of production. They must be constantly aware of the status of the equipment and make changes to process settings as required to meet customer specifications.
  • Must remain calm during stressful situations and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be prepared to address any situation at any time.
  • In a team environment- coach, supervise, lead, discipline, direct, audit and coordinate the activities of employees.
  • Act as a direct liaison between VP of Operations and operators.
  • Support and enforce plant and corporate policies.

Required Skills:

  • Must have great communication skills and write effectively
  • Must be able to perform arithmetic and algebra commensurate with high school graduation levels.
  • Capable of writing reports, using personal computers and have basic computer skills in MS Office programs.
  • Ability to work with hand tools
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Skills Desired:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Extrusion experience: Twin-screw extruder experience helpful
  • Forklift operation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office
